Family Updates + Autumnal Vibes

Happy Monday people. We saw a beautiful sunrise this morning and have watched the sky turn more grey and rainy throughout the day. Lots is happening for our family and the weather is officially a-changing - we thought it'd be good to share a little update about all that's going on. Read on..

Family Updates

So much has started for our family. Shepherd started football (soccer), Perry started ballet, homework is now a weekly thing (for Perry), and we've attended two events at school. In the midst of all of this Perry lost her third tooth this evening, it was eventful process for sure. It is safe to say that she gets loose tooth drama honest from her Mama!

We attended our first "Dig Day" and had a lot of fun. Our primary school has an amazing green space that our kids classes get to use every week. This is such a unique blessing for a London school. Dig Day is the seasonal gardening care time that the PTA organises: we dug up potatoes, raked leaves, and trimmed shrubs. Being completed volunteer led, the school really depends on families to be involved in the life of the school. So much of our life is connected to the Primary School. We love our school so much and really enjoy these opportunities to get involved!

One of the things that really excites us about London is the rich and varied culture of the capital. This last week was Frieze Week in London where world-renowned art was brought in to be enjoyed through a series of presentations. Thomas had his first dose of high-pitch art on Tuesday night as he attended the Antony Gormley exhibit with friends. We took the kiddos to Frieze in Regent's Park on Sunday afternoon and found it all very interesting.

Speaking of Sunday, yesterday was a really special time for our family. We had our first Sunday Roast lunch in the home of the Wrights. Thomas and Ken connected last month at All Soul's and hit it off. We are so thankful to have met some friends that quickly and unapologetically brought us in and are already treating us like family - a true answer to prayer. We loved sharing a delicious meal, sharing our stories, and singing and dancing together.

Autumnal Vibes

The seasons are changing. The sun is setting earlier, the winds are picking up, and the temps are dropping. It's safe to say we've packed the shorts away till April (May? June?) and are already wearing jackets. This means a little bit of shopping has taken place over the last couple of weeks to be sure everyone is ready for the "snap" at the end of October. On that note, it's been really nice to have some other mums preview the seasons and transitions for us.

While things are starting to hone in on Halloween we've already seen a few Christmas items in the stores. We're really looking forward to Christmas in London because we hear there's nothing else like it in the world. On the way to Christmas we are excited to pickup some new traditions like Guy Fawkes Day (Remember, Remember the Fifth of November...) and such. Also, more hearty meals, roasts, stews, and soups are already making a lot more sense. Winter, take your time coming over.

What's On

We're going to our first birthday party for one of Shepherd's friends tomorrow afternoon. We'll also have our weekly Community Group meeting tomorrow evening. Speaking of the evenings, Thomas is out of the house a few nights a week to meet with people and participate in some partnerships and we're especially thankful for nights when we're all home, just us, together.

If the weather cooperates then we will host another one of our "Party in the Park" gatherings on Friday afternoon. These are some fun and lighthearted get-togethers after school for kids, mums, and carers. It provides a relaxed setting to get to know one another and share a little information about Redeemer Queen's Park. We'll share any updates on social at @RedeemerQP - follow along! Pray with us that it's a fruitful time.

There it is. Just a few updates from our family life and what we're experiencing. Thank you for praying with us. We are glad to be on this journey with you.

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

Psalm 37:3-5
