HALF TERM BREAK

Here is a little catch up from Elizabeth on what life has been looking like: half term break, isolation, and Thomas’ birthday!!

HALF TERM / SCHOOL BREAK

Our London school calendar is similar to the US year round calendar. School is broken into 3 terms and each term has a break in the middle. This calendar has taken a bit to get used to, but we really enjoy it now. Perry and Shepherd were on half term break the first week of June. I excitedly researched holiday spots and we decided on Bath.

We took the train to spend 4 nights in Bath and it was WONDERFUL!! Bath is a lovely old city about 1.5 hours away from London. We loved walking around the beautiful city and taking in the historic sites. Some of our favourite things were: the Roman Baths (Perry especially loved this after studying the Romans in school this year), the Royal Crescent, putt putt, gelato, and a fancy dinner.

On Thursday, we decided to take a quick train ride to explore Bristol. We walked A LOT, over 11 miles to be exact! Thomas and I were so impressed with the kids and Lulu!! We loved walking across the Brunel’s suspension bridge, spotting street art, popping into cute shops, and walking along the river. Did I mention that Lulu came along on our family holiday? She did amazing and it was so fun to travel with her.

All in all our time away was refreshing and so much fun! We were all so grateful for the chance to explore new places and make sweet family memories.

AND NOW: ISOLATION

Next up, isolation… one of Perry’s classmates tested positive for covid so her whole class has been in a 10 day isolation. This meant a return to home learning and lots of cancelled plans. Perry handled things very well and is so excited to go back to school on Monday! Thankfully, she tested negative and is now allowed out of the house.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR GUY!

Happy Birthday to Thomas!!! Thomas’ 36th Birthday fell during Perry’s isolation! We had to trade in a fun reservation to take away at home. Perry insisted that we all dress up for the birthday dinner. Dishoom and red velvet cake were the birthday boy’s request and they did not disappoint!

This past year has been tough in so many ways. Thomas has navigated the challenges well and has kept us looking forward. I am so thankful for the opportunity to celebrate him! He loves, serves, and leads with his whole heart. I would not want to go through life with anyone else by my side!

WHAT ELSE?

Redeemer is gaining steam. Our weekly gatherings have been really encouraging over the last couple of weeks. The guys are teaching through the theme of Renewal and we're considering what it looks like to be continually renewed by the gospel. It feels like something deep and substantial is taking place during these times together.

We're looking forward to keeping up with you in the weeks ahead!

"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you,

because he trusts in you."

Isaiah 26:3
