Pray With Us - October

Where to begin. It seems like time is moving fast and the days are all full. Here are a few updates and prayer requests for the month ahead. Read on...

Raleigh Friends Came For A Visit

We were really thankful for a group of friends who came over to visit from Providence, our church back in Raleigh. We showed people around the neighbourhood, shared some of our ministry vision, and enjoyed London together. They helped us get the word out about the new church that is coming together and we spent some time praying for the neighbourhood. On Friday afternoon we put on our first "Party in the Park" - a fun and free after school party for families to celebrate another week of school being over the the transition to the weekend.

Our friends freed us up to enjoy a few minutes of sanity! We were able to get away for two date nights and were so grateful for it. We tried a new restaurant on the Paddington Canal and just loved being able to complete an entire conversation without being interrupted! It really means a lot to have friends who come over to visit and encourage us.

Our First Prayer Supper

Sunday night was a very significant time in the life of our young church family - we hosted our first Prayer Supper for Queen's Park. The idea for a Prayer Supper flows from our heart for Queen's Park. We want to show Queen's Park the love of Jesus and we must begin in prayer.

11 adults and 11 kiddos descended on our house for a simple meal and some time in prayer. We intend to host Prayer Suppers on the last Sunday night of each month. We gather for fellowship and to care for our community by praying for it. We look forward to connecting with other Christians living in North West London by coming together to pray for our neighbourhoods.

Pray With Us - October

Keeping with prayer, would you pray with us in the month of October? We need your prayers personally in our family and for the work of the new church as a whole. We're not asking you to pray for anything that are not already praying for. Here are a few things we need prayer for in October...

+ Launch Team Meeting

On Saturday we will host our second Launch Team gathering for our church planting team. Launch Team meetings are the place where we work out the doctrinal DNA of the church and give a lot of attention to the kind of culture we are trying to create. This is delivered through various types of trainings and supported by prayer and fellowship. Please pray for us as we meet on Saturday.

+ Term Break

Term Break will be upon us in just a few weeks. Please pray that we would genuinely get some rest as a family during the first part of the week. Thomas has a few meetings to tend to during the middle of the week and Thomas' parents are coming over for a visit on the second weekend. We have a lot on between now and then and a respite will be needed!

+ Physical Health

Our little Shepherd has a fever virus - would you join us in praying for him to recover quickly? We're all feeling a bit tired for various reasons: busyness, all the changes, and the wear-and-tear of life in London. We're working out and trying to find good rhythms but simply need an extra measure of prayer to stay healthy and keep moving.

+ Acclimatising To Changing Seasons

Part of the prayer for physical health is tied to the changing seasons. Along with this, would you pray that we would adjust to the news seasons? It's already getting darker earlier, more cloudy and rainy in general, and chilly. Today touched 44 and it seems like more of that is only a few weeks away. We are aware of just how prevalent Seasonal Affective Disorder is and are on guard against it. Would you pray that we would acclimatise in all the ways we need to?

Thank you for praying with us as we pray for London. We are thankful for you.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

For thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory,

now and forever.

Amen
